  is it possible after researching the net on jw beliefs, background and reading apostate information that a jw would still research the bible and find watchtower teachings as truth?

  Excellent comments here, this realization that the one so committed to the truth find themselves actually committed to a contrived truth[tm] instead must be extremely difficult. Difficult decisions must be made to remain true to oneself. Would not wish this situation on my worst enemy.

  It never ceases to amaze me that the images of "apostate literature" as being written with a pen of vomit inevitably turn out to be none other than the word for word watch tower publications, books, magazines or CDrom.

  "2nd why there are no evidences that they ever used the library. Somewhere here was the email of an chief-librarian telling that she did not find any records of JW using the library those 10 years...at least not that often!"

  Is this true? is there a link? I definitely would like to add this to my collection.

  I followed a link from a thread yesterday - don't remember which. It is a transcript of a judicial committee meeting. Unbelievable. A very good read. There are many excellent points & observations made. This one in particular caught my eye. Hope it is ok to post.

  The fundamental fallacy JW's and many Christians of varying denominations and traditions commit is that they view "the church" or a religious organization as a person. As former Bethelite Tom Cabeen rightly observes:
  Association with an organization can influence its members to copy the viewpoints of its leaders, express themselves in a similar way, or act in a uniform manner. It may appear that the organization has a "mind" of its own. But that is not so. An organization has no capability for independent thoughts, feelings, or opinions. It is not a separate entity like a person. Organizations are formed when individuals wish to pool their efforts to accomplish a task, achieve an objective, or share fellowship. The organization may be small or large, tightly or loosely knit. Members of the group may form a legal corporation in order to conduct business. They may appoint leaders or spokespersons for the group, and assign jobs to various members. They may establish rules of conduct and operational methods to be followed as they go about achieving their objectives. But, although it is common to speak of an organization as accomplishing something, no activity attributed to an organization is actually done independently of the individual members, working alone or together. Every thought or action comes from an individual. Apart from its members, an organization is absolutely incapable of generating, communicating or carrying out ideas. This means that any communication that comes from "the organization" is really coming from an individual, even though that member may be sincerely attempting to speak on behalf of the group. An organization simply provides a way to get things done. It has no viewpoint, memory or con-science of its own. It can neither love nor hate. It has no emotions or feelings. It cannot do right or wrong. An organization can do nothing of itself. Only people can do things. And only a person can have a relationship with God (or anyone else). After World War II, the Nazi organization never went on trial for war crimes. But individuals who were associated with it did. An organization cannot commit nor be punished for crimes. It bears no accountability. But people do.

  No wonder no one dares attach their name to anything printed coming out of Brooklyn! Rubber stamp it! Like trying to indict the easter bunny, tooth fairy and santa.

  i've just tossed out for recycling my nwt bible, greatest man book, book of bible stories, live forever book and other assorted jw memorabilia.

  the house is less cluttered now with less shit hanging around.

  you guys should do a spring clean as well.. .

  truth can certainly promote and assure freedom ... but the "key" to the jailhouse door is not some ultimate "trvth" that we must find.

  some argue that theists, deist, or atheist are free due to some "trvth" or that they are all hypocrits because they debate one another.

  ive been visiting this site for about 8 months, just taking in all your comments and the issues that are of importance to those who have been jehovahs witnesses and the problems that you have identified with the religion.

  i was brought up in the truth in the 60s and 70s but my parents left before i reached the age when i would consider being baptised.

  subsequently my parents divorced but have remarried separately and are both back in the religion.

The rightful winners of the paradise prize, the chosen channel proclaiming their exclusive hold and understanding of all truth throughtout the lands as printed under the guidance of famous tacking presidents of a legal corporation which doubles as a printing empire?

  Reading these pages really gives one the impression of just how big this BUSINESS of this god really is. No wonder these are not for the general public, what a spiritual turn off. If the lay knew how rehearsed everything they do and say is they'd be looking for the plug to pull and the power of this "active force" fed robot.

  Yeah I'm sure I could spare 50 hours for the month of march since it is spring break and each of my kids too - they will be so excited!
